Bangladesh have set Pakistan a target of 268 to win the first test, after Najmul Hossain Shanto hit 87. Pakistan reached 6-1 at lunch on Tuesday.
Taskin Ahmed dismissed Imam-ul-Haq for 2, giving Bangladesh an early advantage.
Bangladesh’s Second Innings
Bangladesh declared their second innings at 240-9. They had resumed the day at 152-3, holding an overall lead of 179 runs.
The hosts displayed aggressive intent to establish a challenging target, with Shanto leading the charge.
After Mushfiqur Rahim was dismissed early by Hasan Ali’s bowling, Shanto struck seven boundaries in his innings. He was eventually trapped lbw by left-arm spinner Noman Ali (3-76).
Mehidy Hasan contributed 24 at almost a run-a-ball, pushing the lead past 250. Hasan Ali (3-52) then had Taskin caught by Imam before Bangladesh declared the innings with 76 overs remaining.
Pakistan’s Response at Lunch
For Pakistan, Azan Awais and Abdullah Fazal were unbeaten at the interval.
Bangladesh’s First Innings
Bangladesh were earlier bowled out for 413 in their first innings. They then secured a 27-run lead, dismissing Pakistan for 386, with offspinner Mehidy Hasan taking five wickets.
Pakistan now face a target of 268 to win the test match.
