Flau’Jae Johnson Shines for Storm, Taunts Brittney Griner

Flau’Jae Johnson is making an impact for the Seattle Storm. After a stellar college career at LSU, Johnson has played her first two WNBA games this weekend.

Johnson’s Breakout Game

Johnson is already displaying improvement from her first to her second game. While neither game was particularly efficient, Johnson showed she could get to the line to help the Storm beat the Connecticut Sun on Sunday.

She finished with 16 points. Johnson shot 3-for-10 from the floor, 1-for-3 from 3, and 9-for-10 at the foul line.

Johnson also added six rebounds, an assist, three steals and a block.

Johnson had a plus-11 for the game, second on the Storm behind Dominique Malonga’s plus-15.

‘Too Small’ Gesture Towards Griner

The most memorable moment of the day involved Brittney Griner. Johnson drove right and scooped in a layup in the paint, doing so right past Griner.

As Johnson ran back down the floor, she held her right hand, palm down, near the floor. She was hitting BG with the “too small” gesture.

Flau’Jae certainly doesn’t lack for confidence.

Early Impressions

She’ll keep improving as she goes. It’s been a solid start through two games.

The Storm have to be happy with what they’ve gotten after working a WNBA Draft trade to end up with Johnson on their team.
