Santos Face Double Threat from Ex-Players in Bragantino Clash

Santos FC will have to contend with the dreaded ‘Law of the Ex’ as they prepare to face Bragantino. The Campeonato Brasileiro match will see them up against two former players: Lucas Barbosa and Eduardo Sasha.

Sasha’s Scoring Record Against Santos

Eduardo Sasha, who joined Santos in 2019, played 104 games and scored 23 goals for the club. He was part of the team that finished as runners-up in the Brazilian league that season. In 2020, he took legal action against the club before being transferred to Atlético Mineiro.

Since leaving Santos, Sasha has scored six goals against them. Five of these goals were scored while playing for Red Bull Bragantino. In the 2023 Brasileiro, he scored twice in a 3-1 victory at Vila Belmiro. He also scored in the 2024 Paulista Championship, once in the group stage (a 1-0 win) and again in the semi-final (a 3-1 win for Bragantino). He also scored in the 2025 Brasileirão in a 2-1 victory over Santos at Vila Belmiro.

Sasha’s other goal against Santos came in 2016, while playing for Internacional, in a 2-0 Copa do Brasil victory.

Lucas Barbosa’s Return to Vila Belmiro

Lucas Barbosa came through the Santos youth system. He gained prominence after the team’s runner-up finish in the 2022 Copa São Paulo de Futebol Júnior. In the same year, he was promoted to the professional team, where he experienced periods of both playing time and exclusion. He was also sidelined by coach Paulo Turra before being loaned out to Coritiba and Juventude. Barbosa scored seven goals in 65 appearances for Santos.

Santos will be looking to nullify the threat posed by these two players as they seek to improve their position in the competition.
