Las Vegas Raiders’ Offseason: Winners, Losers and Receiver Doubts

Enthusiasm surrounds the Las Vegas Raiders following the NFL draft. One publication ranked the Raiders’ draft class as the third-best of any team. Another ranked the Raiders as having the best offseason of any “rebuilding teams” so far.

Jeanty’s Position Improved by Offseason Changes

Running back Ashton Jeanty stands to gain significantly from the Raiders’ offseason moves. Klint Kubiak’s arrival as head coach places Jeanty in a run-heavy scheme. This scheme is expected to be more effective at creating open space.

Jeanty was frequently hit in the backfield last season. Tyler Linderbaum’s arrival gives the Raiders’ offensive line an anchor.

The draft further benefited Jeanty, with the addition of Mike Washington Jr. as a potential running mate. Jeanty had 266 carries last season, while the Raiders’ other backs combined for just 41. Washington should be able to shoulder some of that workload and allow Jeanty to expend more energy with his opportunities.

Receiving Corps Under Scrutiny

Las Vegas’ receiving corps have faced criticism since the draft. This judgement is based on the Raiders shipping out their WR1 Jakobi Meyers and replacing him with free agent Jalen Nailor. They drafted only one receiver, sixth-round pick Malik Benson.

Currently, no member of the receiving room has ever recorded 700 receiving yards in a season. In 2025, the Raiders had the third-fewest receiving yards from the position (1,696).

Faith in Current Receivers

The limited additions suggest that general manager John Spytek believes in the potential of the current receivers. He has expressed his admiration for Tre Tucker, the team’s leading receiver from the previous year. He also championed the signing of Nailor, who is expected to have the opportunity to improve his play in a more prominent role. Spytek also said he likes the development of Jack Bech and Dont’e Thornton, who should get on the field more than they did during their rookie seasons.

While adding a veteran free agent remains a possibility, Spytek stated that they are not going to “force anything” just to bring in more talent. The current receivers should get opportunities to prove themselves this upcoming season.

Defensive Changes

Defensive tackle was considered a need for Las Vegas this offseason. This was due to the controversial departure of Christian Wilkins.
