The Chicago Cubs have joined an exclusive historical group after notching their 10th straight win on Friday night.
The Cubs defeated the Texas Rangers 7-1. It was their 10th straight win, and their second 10-game win streak of 2026.
A Rare Achievement
The Cubs are the first team since the 1955 Brooklyn Dodgers to have two win streaks of at least 10 games within the first 40 games of a season.
The other teams to achieve this feat are:
- 97-56-2, second place in National League
- 95-40-3, won American Association
- 1880 Chicago White Stockings (Cubs)
The Cubs’ two 10-game heaters are close together. Their first win streak ran from April 14 through April 24. After dropping three straight to the Dodgers, they began their current win streak with a win over the Padres on April 28. The Cubs have now won 20 of their last 23 games.
Cubs’ Season So Far
Friday’s win in Arlington pushes the Cubs to 27-12, and they’ve achieved that mark despite having played the second-toughest schedule in all of MLB. They are 18-5 at home.
That’s good for first place in the NL Central. For the moment, that is the best record in baseball. The Cubs are backing it up with a plus-56 run differential.
The Cubs last season won 92 games and made the playoffs. In 2026, they’re looking like a true juggernaut thus far.
Suzuki’s Contribution
Seiya Suzuki hit his seventh home run of the season in the 7-1 win against the Texas Rangers.
The Cubs’ victory came behind strong pitching in a bullpen-heavy game.
The Cubs have already made a bit of history and are well on their way to an excellent season.
