With spring training underway, fantasy baseball drafts are on the horizon. Team owners will see names such as Aaron Judge, Shohei Ohtani and Bobby Witt Jr. at the top of most rankings.
The Red Sox have a player who could eventually join that group: Roman Anthony.
Anthony’s Rising Star Status
Anthony is already considered one of the top fantasy outfielders in the league, often landing between No. 10 and No. 20 in the OF rankings.
Last year, Anthony had a slash line of .292/.396/.463 with 18 doubles, eight home runs and 32 RBIs in 71 games.
He finished third in AL Rookie of the Year voting despite an oblique strain ending his 2025 season in September.
Dynasty Draft Potential
When it comes to fantasy dynasty drafts, Anthony shouldn’t fall behind many outfielders — or players at any other positions.
Now that he is starting in Boston from Day 1 instead of Triple-A Worcester, Anthony’s numbers should go way up.
- He had the best hard-hit rate in baseball at 60.3 percent.
- He had the fourth-highest average exit velocity at 94.5 mph (minimum 150 BBE) in 2025.
While his strikeout percentage was high (27.7 percent), he should become more comfortable against MLB pitching with more at-bats.
Perhaps the most important factor in a dynasty draft is potential, and Anthony has a lot of it.
Red Sox Investment
He will turn just 22 years old in May, and he is built to live up to the hype. The Red Sox are highly invested in his success, as they signed him to an eight-year, $130 million contract extension last year.
Boston is betting that Anthony will emerge as a franchise cornerstone and perennial MVP candidate.
Those participating in fantasy dynasty league drafts would be wise to do the same.
