The Yankees and Brewers are set to clash for the first time since their series last season.
The previous meeting between the two sides involved the Yankees’ three-game sweep of the Brewers to open 2025, with the Bronx Bombers outscoring the Crew 36-14. That series brought attention to torpedo bats, after the Yankees hit 14 home runs.
Misiorowski Set for Series Opener
This time around, the Yankees will have to contend with Jacob Misiorowski in Friday’s series opener. Misiorowski was still in Triple-A during last year’s series. The righty has a 2.84 ERA over his first seven starts.
Misiorowski has a 38.1% strikeout rate, and has struck out at least seven hitters in six of his outings, crossing double-digits twice.
In his past two starts, Misiorowski fired 43 and 39 pitches at 100+ mph, respectively. Only Reds star Hunter Greene has recorded more pitches at that speed in a game in the pitch-tracking era (2008). In his last time out, “The Miz” took a no-hitter into the fifth inning against the Nationals before exiting with a right hamstring cramp.
Fried on the Mound for Yankees
Max Fried will start on Friday for the Yankees, holding a 4-1 record with a 2.39 ERA. Fried has provided length and consistency for the Yankees rotation.
More Pitching Matchups to Watch
The series continues with further pitching intrigue. Cam Schlittler is facing off against Kyle Harrison on Saturday. Carlos Rodón is expected to make his season debut on Sunday for the Yankees against Logan Henderson.
The Yankees are off to a 26-12 start, tied with the Braves and Cubs. They also have an MLB-best 61 long balls.
