Cal Raleigh is back in the Mariners lineup as designated hitter on Tuesday after missing the last three games with “general soreness”. The team haven’t been too forthcoming with specifics on the injury. He is still limited to DH, at least for now.
This means the Mariners have to start Mitch Garver behind the plate against a righty, while Dominic Canzone rides the bench. Having Raleigh back at all is an encouraging sign, and hopefully he’ll be back behind the plate again soon.
Kirby’s Approach Against Baseball’s Top Lineup
George Kirby is on the mound for the Mariners tonight. He’s had an odd start to the 2026 season, walking more batters and striking out fewer batters than ever. However, he has a 56.5% ground ball rate — the fifth best in baseball.
His 2.84 xERA is top 10 in baseball, so it seems to be working for him. It will be interesting to see how that approach matches up with one of the most potent lineups in baseball.
