Edgar Mejía and Querétaro Femenil have ended their association following the Clausura 2026 tournament. The club finished second to last in the standings with only one win.
Mejía, known as ‘Chore’, managed the team for one season. His project with the women’s team did not achieve the desired results.
Club Statement and Mejía’s Reaction
Querétaro Femenil released an official statement thanking the Mexican manager for his participation. The statement acknowledged Mejía’s commitment, professionalism, and leadership during his time with the team.
The club stated it will continue working to strengthen Querétaro Femenil in line with sporting and institutional objectives.
Mejía also commented on social media. He said he was closing this chapter with pride and gratitude to Club Querétaro, its people, and its fans. He added that he worked with character and conviction and that the process leaves a foundation.
Mejía wrote, “I conclude my time in front of Gallos Blancos Femenil with pride, gratitude and the honour of having represented this institution. I leave with the certainty of having given everything: work, knowledge, structure and heart; I take away learning, strength and the pride of having been part of Querétaro, a plaza in which I was genuinely happy.”
Querétaro’s Performance
The club secured one win, two draws, and suffered 14 defeats during the season. Querétaro finished second to last in the overall standings. Only Necaxa were below them, with one win, one draw, and 15 losses.
