AGF have moved back to the top of the Danish Superliga after a dramatic 2-1 victory over Sonderjyske. An injury-time goal from 18-year-old James Bogere secured the win for AGF. Bogere’s goal, his first for the club, sent the home crowd into raptures.
AGF Dominate But Struggle to Score
The match was symbolic of AGF’s spring season, with the home side dominating for long periods. However, they struggled to convert their dominance into goals. Kristian Arnstad missed an early opportunity, shooting poorly at Sonderjyske keeper Nicolai Flo after just six minutes. Gift Links tried to spark the hosts with energetic play, but he received limited support.
Bech Breaks the Deadlock, Hyseni Equalises
AGF coach Jakob Poulsen brought on Frederik Emmery at the start of the second half. Emmery’s introduction paid off almost immediately when he beat Matthew Hoppe on AGF’s left side. He then delivered a cross into the box, where Tobias Bech headed home to give AGF the lead. Just as it seemed AGF would double their lead, Sonderjyske equalised against the run of play with nine minutes left.
Anders Bergholt crossed the ball to Olti Hyseni, who scored his fifth goal of the season. Four of Hyseni’s goals have come this spring.
Bogere Secures Victory in Injury Time
With the game heading for a draw, Bogere’s shot from the edge of the box was deflected off Maxime Soulas and into the net. The late goal gave AGF the win and put them three points clear of FC Midtjylland. FC Midtjylland can regain first place with a win against Viborg FF on Monday evening due to a better goal difference.
