Fenerbahçe manager Domenico Tedesco was back in charge for their home game against Samsunspor in the Trendyol Süper Lig, after recovering from illness.
The Italian manager made three changes to the starting eleven compared to the previous match against Gaziantep FK. Mert Günok, Yiğit Efe Demir, and Fred Rodrigues were on the bench for the Samsunspor game.
Ederson Moraes, Jayden Oosterwolde, and Marco Asensio were drafted into the starting lineup in their place.
Tedesco’s Tactical Shift and Team Selection
The 40-year-old manager opted for Ederson in goal against Samsunspor. The defence consisted of Mert Müldür, Jayden Oosterwolde, and Levent Mercan.
Anthony Musaba and Archie Brown were the wing-backs, with Matteo Guendouzi and N’Golo Kante in midfield. Marco Asensio played behind the forward line, supporting Kerem Aktürkoğlu and Sidiki Cherif up front.
Mert Günok, Tarık Çetin, Yiğit Efe Demir, Milan Skriniar, Kamil Efe Üregen, İsmail Yüksek, Fred Rodrigues, Dorgeles Nene, Oğuz Aydın, and Alaettin Ekici were named as substitutes for Fenerbahçe.
Tedesco’s return to the bench comes after he missed the Antalyaspor and Gaziantep FK games due to illness. He had, however, participated in training sessions during the week.
Asensio’s Return and Brown’s League Start
Marco Asensio was named in the starting eleven for Fenerbahçe against Samsunspor. His fitness had been in doubt during the week due to an injury.
Archie Brown, the English left-back, made his first league start in approximately three months. Brown had started in the UEFA Europa League match against Nottingham Forest and the Turkish Cup game against Gaziantep FK following a lengthy injury.
His last league start was on 15 December 2025 against Konyaspor.
Oosterwolde Reaches Milestone
Jayden Oosterwolde made his 100th official appearance for Fenerbahçe in the match against Samsunspor. Oosterwolde joined Fenerbahçe during the 2022-2023 season.
The 24-year-old, who has also played for Parma and Twente, reached 100 appearances for a single club for the first time in his career. He also captained Fenerbahçe for the first time in the Samsunspor match.
Tedesco has opted for a three-man defence in recent matches, including the wins against Nottingham Forest and Gaziantep FK.
