Diogo Costa has spoken about FC Porto’s determination to ‘fulfil the dream’ of their fans. He acknowledged the supporters’ role in motivating the team, both at home and in every match.
Costa’s Gratitude and Focus
Costa expressed his gratitude for the fans’ reception, not only but in all matches. He stated that they are part of the club and the team’s motivation. ‘Resta-nos fazer cumprir o sonho deles,’ Costa said.
Costa addressed his performance this season. He attributed the team’s defensive record to the collective effort. He also credited the manager’s quality for bringing a new direction and ideas to the club and players.
He also stated that the quality and intensity of the training sessions has improved some players, compared to last year.
Emotional Control in the Title Race
Costa acknowledged the significance of the remaining games. He emphasised the importance of emotional control, recognising the excitement surrounding the title race. ‘É óbvio que sim,’ he said, regarding the title being on his mind.
Costa stressed the need for professionalism and performing their roles effectively. ‘É um orgulho jogar aqui,’ he added.
Overcoming Difficulties and Instilling the Porto DNA
Reflecting on the season’s challenges, Costa mentioned several tragedies. He described his role as captain, instilling the club’s values in both new and existing players. This was particularly important after three years without winning a championship.
He spoke of bringing the ADN of FC Porto, their culture, and conveying to his team-mates what it means to represent FC Porto. Costa stated he is extremely proud of his team and happy.
