Bologna vs Verona: Scots Prepare for Serie A Clash

Lewis Ferguson and Kieron Bowie will both be aiming to catch the eye of Scotland head coach Steve Clarke when Bologna take on Hellas Verona. The Serie A match will be broadcast live on BBC Alba.

Ferguson’s Bologna Eye European Spot

Bologna captain Ferguson has recently seen limited Serie A action, playing just three minutes in I Rossoblu’s past three league games. He was an unused substitute in wins over Udinese and Pisa.

However, Ferguson did start both legs of Bologna’s Europa League play-off victory over Brann.

Ferguson has been a regular in Clarke’s Scotland midfield, including starting in November’s 4-2 victory over Denmark as Scotland secured their place at this summer’s World Cup.

Ferguson’s side are currently eighth in Italy’s top flight following three straight wins. They still harbour ambitions of securing a European spot and trail Juventus in sixth place by eight points with 11 matches remaining this season.

Bowie Seeks First Verona Goal

Bowie, who became Hibernian’s club-record sale after joining Verona in January, has started the past four matches for the league’s bottom side.

However, he is yet to score for his new club.

Bowie was not included in the Scotland squad for the game against Denmark. He has previously won two caps and could potentially force his way back into contention with a strong end to the season in Italy.

Previous Meeting

In the previous Serie A meeting this season, Bologna came from behind to secure a 3-2 victory. Goals came from Riccardo Orsolini, Jens Odgaard and Santiago Castro.

The match kicks off at 14:00 GMT at the Renato Dall’Ara Stadium in Bologna, with live coverage on BBC Alba from 13:50.
