Bryce Harper’s Honest Assessment as Phillies Losing Streak Extends

Bryce Harper has spoken out after the Philadelphia Phillies suffered another defeat. The Phillies lost to the Atlanta Braves on Friday night, 5-3, at Truist Park in Georgia.

Harper himself hit one home run and struck out twice in five at-bats. The loss extends the Phillies’ losing streak to ten games.

According to MLB.com’s Todd Zolecki, this is the franchise’s longest losing streak since September 4-14, 1999, when they lost 11 straight. It’s only their fifth losing streak of 10 or more games since 1972.

Harper’s Reaction to Phillies’ Struggles

After the game, Harper addressed the media. He stated, “It’s not great. Obviously, not in the spot where we want to be… We can all say everything, the same thing every single day. Nobody wants to hear it. We just gotta win… Plain and simple… We just gotta continue to fight.”

Phillies’ Season So Far

Despite the team’s overall struggles, Harper has maintained a solid performance this season. He is batting .258 with 25 hits, six home runs, 14 RBI’s, 13 runs and one stolen base in 26 games.

Harper is currently in his eighth year with the franchise. The Phillies reached the World Series in 2022 and have made the MLB playoffs in each of the previous four years.

  • Bryce Harper hit his 369th career HR, tying Hall of Famers Ralph Kiner and Todd Helton for 87th on the All Time HR list.

Team’s Current Standing and Future Games

The Phillies currently hold a record of 8-18 in 26 games. This places them at the bottom of the National League East.

Their road record stands at 3-8 in 11 games. Following their series with the Braves, the Phillies will return home to host the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday.

Last season, the Phillies were defeated in the NLDS by the Los Angeles Dodgers. They last won a World Series in 2008.
