Debut Goalkeepers in the Superclásico

This edition of the Superclásico is notable as both River Plate and Boca Juniors will field goalkeepers making their debut in this important match. Santiago Beltrán and Leandro Brey will be between the sticks for River and Boca respectively.

Beltrán, 21, is stepping up due to Franco Armani’s injury. He has played in all 15 of River’s matches this year. Brey, 23, is also a product of Boca’s youth system.

Boca’s Arrival at River Plate

The Boca squad arrived at River Plate’s stadium after 15:15 hours. They had been staying at the Marriott Hotel in Ezeiza, before departing for the match at River’s ground after 14:30 hours.

Bareiro’s Return to Núñez

Adam Bareiro, who had a prior spell with River Plate, is now with Boca. He spent six months at River in 2024 without scoring. After a loan spell in Arabia, he was sold to Fortaleza before Boca signed him due to injuries to Edinson Cavani and Milton Giménez.

Bareiro scored twice on his debut for Boca against Gimnasia de Chivilcoy. He also scored against Gimnasia de Mendoza. He then scored against Instituto, Talleres and Universidad Católica. He has gone two games without scoring.

Bareiro is set to return to Núñez wearing the Boca shirt. He is likely to face jeers from the River Plate fans after his previous goalless spell and his decision to join Boca.
