Gladiators vs Zalmi: Muqeem Shines but Quetta Fall Short in PSL

Quetta Gladiators concluded their innings at 154 all out against Peshawar Zalmi, with contributions throughout their batting order but no significant knock to finish strongly.

Early Pressure on Quetta

Quetta’s innings began poorly. Ahsan Ali fell early to Iftikhar Ahmed for 4. Skipper Saud Shakeel was then run out for 16 following a fielding effort involving Farhan Yousaf and Iftikhar Ahmed. These early dismissals put Quetta under pressure.

Rilee Rossouw provided some aggression, scoring 26 off 18 balls. However, he was then dismissed by Sufiyan Muqeem.

Muqeem and Basit Restrict Gladiators

The most stable batting effort came from Hasan Nawaz, who scored 37 off 35 balls. He anchored the innings patiently. Shamyl Hussain supported him with a quickfire 12 off 10 before falling to Muqeem.

Middle-order support came from Khawaja Nafay (20 off 13), Tom Curran (15 off 10), and Jahandad Khan (6 off 7). Alzarri Joseph added late runs with 6 off 4. Zalmi struck back regularly through Mohammad Basit, who took 3/36, removing key batters at crucial stages.

Sufiyan Muqeem impressed, finishing with 3 wickets for 25 runs. In the lower order, Abrar Ahmed showed resistance with 3 not out. Usman Tariq was run out in the final over, ending Quetta’s innings at 154.

Zalmi’s Bowling Attack

Iftikhar Ahmed kept things tight early, conceding only 20 runs from his spell. Ali Raza, Michael Bracewell, and Aaron Hardie maintained pressure without major breakthroughs. They effectively controlled the scoring rate.

Zalmi’s Chase Begins

Chasing 155, Peshawar Zalmi will rely on Babar Azam, Mohammad Haris, and Kusal Mendis for a solid start. Quetta’s spinners Abrar Ahmed and Sufiyan Muqeem could make the chase tricky on a slightly slowing pitch.
