Topps Chrome Football Set to Feature Tecmo Super Bowl Cards

Topps Chrome Football will include Tecmo Super Bowl themed insert cards. The design will be inspired by the touchdown celebration screen from the 1991 game, which was the first video game to be licensed by both the NFL and the NFL Players Association.

Tecmo Bowl Nostalgia Meets Trading Cards

Fanatics Collectibles CEO Mike Mahan has expressed his enthusiasm for the inclusion of Tecmo Super Bowl themed insert cards in the 2025 Topps Chrome Football set. Mahan admitted to spending countless hours playing Tecmo Bowl. He sees this as a nod to the past.

The checklist will feature 13 former players, including Bo Jackson, John Elway and Joe Montana. It also includes 10 current players, such as Josh Allen, Jayden Daniels, Jaxson Dart, Saquon Barkley and Cam Ward. These cards will be case hits, appearing in roughly every 12 hobby boxes or more.

Both white-ink autographed and non-autographed versions will be available within the set.

Rookie Patches and NFL Honors

The Chrome set will also feature the NFL version of the MLB Rookie Debut patch autographed cards. The one-of-one Topps Rookie PREM1ERE patch autographed cards will appear in 2025 Topps Chrome Football. Members of the 2025 NFL Draft class wore the PREM1ERE patch on their jersey during their first NFL regular season appearance last season.

The patch was then removed and placed into a rookie card.

Chrome will also bear one-of-one NFL Honors gold shield patch autographed cards from the 2024 league award winners. The awards include MVP, Offensive Player of the Year, and Defensive Player of the Year.

The 2025 Topps Chrome Football set marks the first licensed NFL trading card product from Topps (owned by Fanatics) in more than a decade.
