Carter Bryant Receives Praise From Spurs Team-Mate

Carter Bryant has earned plaudits from a Spurs team-mate. After Bryant shined in his 25 minutes, he gave credit to his team-mates and a special shout out to Jordan McLaughlin.

McLaughlin’s Mentorship

Bryant said that McLaughlin has been a big part of things for him. According to Bryant, McLaughlin has told him to trust his work and understand that his time is going to come, encouraging him to keep being confident in himself.

McLaughlin’s veteran presence appears to be having a positive impact on the younger players.

Respect for a Team-Mate

Bryant admires McLaughlin because he doesn’t always get the opportunity to play too much. He noted that every time McLaughlin goes in he’s steady and constant.

Bryant added that McLaughlin is very detailed. You can never tell if McLaughlin is having a great or terrible game by his body language, and Bryant respects him a lot and looks up to him for that.

McLaughlin’s Role

McLaughlin came to the Spurs as part of the trade that put De’Aaron Fox in a Spurs jersey. The Silver & Black lost Tre Jones, Zach Collins, and Sidy Cissoko, but gained a clutch starting point guard to pair with Victor Wembanyama while offering a veteran presence to the young squad.

After the summer acquisition of Dylan Harper, it looked as though minutes for Jordan McLaughlin may never materialise, but the guard has shown what being ready is all about.

Any time J-Mac is called into action, he is ready.

Team Contribution

McLaughlin is solid, according to Jacob Douglas. He comes in and does his job, playing pesky perimeter defence, taking care of the ball, and playing within the flow of the offence.

Without Stephon Castle, Dylan Harper got his third start of the season which left room to rotate McLaughlin in off the bench.

As the Spurs go into the playoffs, minutes can become even more scarce at the end of the bench. While staying healthy is paramount for the marquee players, staying ready is the key to McLaughlin’s role.
