Tyson Fury’s plans for the future appear to be shifting, with a potential third fight against Oleksandr Usyk now seemingly less of a priority. This comes despite Fury losing to Usyk twice in 2024.
Fury Claims Usyk Wants a Third Fight
Fury has revealed that he and Usyk have been communicating via social media. According to Fury, Usyk is the one pushing for a third fight. Fury stated Usyk wants the fight because Fury is the “cash cow”.
However, Fury seems to believe that he will not get a fair decision in a third fight against Usyk. He alluded to this in his messages with Usyk. Fury said he asked Usyk if “they are going to give you the decision before we go in there?”
Fury stated that Usyk has had his pay days and that it is not about Usyk anymore.
Joshua Fight a Bigger Priority?
Instead of pursuing a third Usyk fight, Fury is reportedly getting closer to securing a showdown with Anthony Joshua. Joshua has also lost twice to Usyk and now trains alongside the Ukrainian.
Makhmudov Fight Looms
Before any potential fights against Usyk or Joshua, Fury is set to face Arslanbek Makhmudov. Fury returns to action after a 16-month layoff to fight Makhmudov. The fight is scheduled for Saturday night.
Frank Warren has previously relayed that Fury wanted a third crack at Usyk. Fury has maintained that he did enough to win the fights on the scorecards. Makhmudov will be looking to spoil all of Fury’s future plans with a win.
Fury returns to the ring after a 16-month layoff, with his focus potentially shifting away from Oleksandr Usyk and towards other potential opponents.
