Bayern Munich are aiming for a treble-winning season, a feat they last achieved in 2019-20.
A key part of their success is the form of Harry Kane, Michael Olise, and Luis Diaz. They are being compared to Real Madrid’s attacking trio of Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema, who won three consecutive European crowns between 2016 and 2018.
Bayern’s Forwards Compared to Real Madrid and Barcelona
The Bayern trio have scored a combined 86 goals across all competitions this season. 57 of those goals have been in the league. They are chasing the standard set by Madrid’s ‘BBC’ trio, who netted 100 goals at their peak in 2014-15.
Since 2000, there have been seven instances of three attacking players hitting a century of goals across all competitions in one campaign. All of them played for Barcelona and Real Madrid. Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar recorded 131 and 122 goal seasons in 2015-16 and 2014-15.
Kane, Olise and Diaz’s Impact
Bayern Munich have won 23 of 28 league matches, scoring 100 goals in the process. Bayer Leverkusen stand between them and a first domestic cup final in six years, and they finally look like making a deep run in the Champions League, too.
The first leg of their quarter-final is against Real Madrid.
Kane, Olise and Diaz are all outstanding attackers, and the trio can all create. Diaz and especially Olise have ideal profiles to partner Kane.
- Kane has 48 goals across all competitions, 31 in the league.
- He has converted all 10 of his league penalties this term.
Bayern have phenomenal attacking depth. Talented youngster Lennart Karl, 59-cap Germany winger Serge Gnabry, and on-loan striker Nicolas Jackson mean that even when Vincent Kompany rotates, they have firepower.
Kane Chasing Bundesliga Record
Kane needs 10 more Bundesliga goals to break Robert Lewandowski’s record from 2020-21.
Kane has showcased every type of finish: tap-ins, long-range strikes, angled finishes, headers.
It is almost inevitable that Bayern will better the club and Bundesliga record from 1971-72, when Gerd Muller fired in 40 goals and second and third-top scorers Ulrich Hoeness and Franz Roth chipped in with 13 and 12.
The trio could feasibly play 13 more matches if they reach the finals of the DFB Pokal and Champions League. Kane missed their Bundesliga win against Freiburg at the weekend, but is expected to feature against Madrid at the Bernabeu.
