76ers Face Spurs as Playoff Picture Nears Completion

The San Antonio Spurs are gearing up to host the Philadelphia 76ers as they begin their final homestand of the regular season.

76ers’ Playoff Seeding Still in Flux

The Philadelphia 76ers’ situation has seen little change since their previous encounter with the San Antonio Spurs. With only 4 games remaining in the regular season, the 76ers currently hold the 7th position in the Eastern Conference standings.

They still have the opportunity to shift their seeding before the playoffs begin. The 76ers are just a half game behind the Toronto Raptors for the 6th seed. Securing 6th would allow them to bypass the play-in tournament and automatically qualify for the first round of the playoffs.

Boosted by the return of Paul George and Joel Embiid on March 25th after extended absences, Philadelphia defeated the Chicago Bulls. While their return doesn’t automatically make Philadelphia title contenders, it potentially makes them a difficult first round opponent. This is especially true if Embiid can maintain his health, which is a significant concern given his history.

Spurs Aim to Fine-Tune Ahead of Playoffs

The San Antonio Spurs are also involved in their own seeding chase, although they are running out of games to overtake the Oklahoma City Thunder. They are currently 2.5 games back with 4 home games remaining to finish out the regular season, the window is closing for the Silver and Black.

Regardless of their final standing, head coach Mitch Johnson is expected to utilise his players during this final stretch of the regular season. The aim is to fine-tune the team as the playoffs approach.
